Meet Valerie Redmond
I’m a teacher, an author and a mom. I have an Honors BA in Law from Carleton University, teaching diplomas from The Toronto Montessori Institute, and a Master’s in Education from McGill University (thesis pending).
Over the past few decades, I have taught children from pre-school to middle school. I spent a year in Kenya working with teachers and helping to open a school.
Inspired by my children and my students, I have written and published two children’s books.
My first book, Emma and the African Wishing Bead, is about two girls separated by an ocean but united by their dreams. It is about the gifts we have to offer when we follow our dreams and embrace our potential.
My second book, Harry and the Answer Feather, is the story of a boy who learns to trust his instincts and ‘see’ with his heart. He learns that his intuition is always guiding him forward.
These books have become the foundation for workshops that I give at schools. Through these workshops, children learn to trust their internal guidance system and recognize that their dreams are their soul’s blueprint for creating beauty in the world.
My next book, The New Alchemists: Raising Kids Who Can Save the World, is inspiration for parents and caregivers.
I live on a horse farm near Montreal with my husband, Richard, our kids, Emma and Harrison, our dogs, Jewel and Ruby, and cats, Smoke, Flame and Max.
